Voice is something so powerful that is able to change the way a system is being run. In our generation, our voice on social media is what lets everyone know what is happening in the world whether good or bad. Social activism is bringing to light the injustice that is still going on, especially among the black and women community. Those that are trying to quiet our voice are not capable because it is something is greater than them.

periodWomen over a lifetime spend over 18 thousand buying the necessary goods that they need while having their period. Women go through a total of 8.5 years of constant bleeding but without it, women are at risk of not being able to bear children or increase their risk of illnesses. Periods, don’t get me wrong is a bitch, but it is something that is also natural and should not have this stigma that it is nasty attached to it.

True beautyThere was a time when I would go on Facebook and find men sharing the same post of a picture of a teenage girl having sexual relations with her boyfriend at the time. The boyfriend was angry by her because she decided to not be with him anymore and started dating somebody else. As a result, he posted this picture on his page calling her derogatory names in order to ruin her reputation. This post spread throughout Facebook with people defending her while others had called her a hoe. She was probably too scared to say something or felt angry over the fact that a guy that she trust with was capable of doing this. What he did is called revenge porn which he could have been accused of but instead seen as a hero for some people. I don’t know about you but there is still a lot of change that still has to occur for women to feel respected just like how men are.

Speak UpIn my high school law class, there was this discussion about if there was some sort of biases when it came to discussing about white people versus black people. Through the news and the newspaper, the black community was categorized more as criminals because they were seen as more violent and passive-aggressive while white people were excused for their actions because they were seen to have some type of mental disorder. The white community had more coverage when it came to their own personal attributes and were obviously shown to be the superior race.
